Every great artist has taken a first step.
Every great artist started out not knowing what they were doing.
Every great artist started out imitating another artist.
Every great artist had doubts about their talent.
Every great artist has reached out for help to become a better artist.
Every hour someone discovers they want to be an artist.
Every hour some one discovers they are an artist.
Every person who wants to be an artist can be one.
No one has the authority or the right to tell you you cannot be an artist.
You can be an artist.
You can come from any background, education level, or occupation.
You can be any shape, size, gender, race, nationality, marital status, parental status, age.
You can be from any economic status.
You can have extremely average looks.
You can have extremely non-average looks.
You can have any type of hair or no hair at all.
You can have any mental or physical disability or difference.
You can come from any type of home or living situation.
You can be born of any parent.
You can be an artist regardless of what teachers, family, friends, society told you when you were growing up.
You can become an artist like no other artist.
You can be a great artist.
And you can inspire others to become great artists.

- Stand-up Comedy
- Spoken Word, Performance Poetry, And More Traditional Literary Poetry (meaning the focus is more about getting published, rather than the poem's "performance", "delivery", or impact on a live audience).

AudienceConnections.com and Michael Louis provide support, training materials, coaching, consulting, and coursework for experienced, professional, working, non-working, and absolute beginner artists - both interested in an artistic career or those interested in just picking up specific skills help them in business, their career, or in their personal life.
Individualized sessisons are custom tailored to the exact needs of each artist as discussed in the first consultation(s), and on an on-going basis throughout the duration of the coaching or consulting relationship.
Staying in touch and thoroughly flexible with the clients needs is of paramount importance in ANY coaching or consulting relationship.
Live in person one-on-one coaching is available, as is using video conferencing services such as Skype.
The online option can work especially well if 1) the client lives far from the Los Angeles area and finds it difficult to travel to Los Angeles, or 2) the client's art or career relies heavily, if not solely, on the use of video. The ability to schedule sessions with new clients is based upon current availability.
As part of the coaching process, clients may choose to email video, audio, or writings to receive detailed hand-written (or video, audio, phone) critiques, notes, and feedback. This method has proven to be extremely effective, especially when constructive feedback is urgently needed on a current time sensitive project or performance. Such circumstances may be:
- The need to get fresh experienced eyes on your audition performance or rehearsal performance when that audition or production is coming up.
- A public or online speaking engagement is just around the corner.
- A stand-up performance is coming up.
- Your need for honest, constructive feedback on your film/video dailies (footage, takes, scenes) while considering the feasibility of re-shoots, re-writes, re-direction, or other important considerations. This method is also beneficial for just general feedback about the strength of the scene/take/material, when it is not time-sensitive.
- A poetry or storytelling performance or reading is fast approaching.
- Your need for honest, constructive feedback on your musical performance if you're having some degree of trouble connecting fully and emotionally with your material (and hence missing out on that vital connection with the audience.)
Let's face it, it's not always the best idea to get feedback from friends and family.
Though they mean well, and want you to succeed (most of the time, if you're lucky), in my experience and in the experience of my clients and fellow artists, they are often afraid to hurt your feelings, or reluctant to give honest feedback for some other deep-seeded family relationship reasons.
Or they are SUPER critical coming from some familial child-primal place or out of sheer ignorance of (or hostility towards the) artisitic process.
If you do trust them (and some of them you absolutely can), they certainly should not be the only ones you turn to for feedback.
If I've learned anything in my over 20 years as a communicative artist, getting feedback from a knowledgeable, experienced, trustworthy third party, who has absolutely no stakes in the relationship is ALWAYS a good idea.
